RETAIL Point of Sale & Inventory Control Management

Retail industry is growing at fastest rate with increased number of challenges faced by retail. It has become increasingly difficult to adapt to changing business scenarios for retailers who are always looking for new ways to increase profitability. Frauds, including vendor frauds, thefts, shoplifting and inaccuracy in supervision and administration are the challenges that are difficult to handle. Although the challenges of retail are unique, they can be addressed with the right technology that identifies the problems and offers a holistic solution.

Restaurant POS & Management

One common problem with automated systems is that the servers and managers are not comfortable with a "Computer". Why? They don't understand it! Our system was designed by restaurant owners, not computer people, thus it is much more intuitive and "user-friendly" than other systems. Training is almost eliminated, compared with other systems which require you to memorize functions, codes, and numbers. With our system, you just intuitively touch the button for the item you want. It is truly "What You See Is What You Get". Simple, and everyone understands it.

Barcode Printers ( Zebra,TSC,Monarch / Paxar,SATO )

While it may seem like barcodes have been with us forever, barcodes didn’t really make an impact until the 1970’s. It wasn’t until 1974 that the first barcode scanner was employed and the first product barcoded.

But the idea had been around for quite awhile.   In 1932, Wallace Flint suggested that an automated retail checkout system might be feasible.  While his concept was deemed unworkable, Flint continued to support the idea of automated checkout throughout his career.  In fact, Flint, who went on to become the vice-president of the association of food chains some 40 years later, was instrumental in the development of the UPC code.

During the 40’s, 50’s and 60’s several code formats were developed including a bull’s-eye code, numeral codes, and various other formats. Retail applications drove the early technological developments of bar coding, but industrial applications soon followed.

What is bar code? It is method of automatic identification and data collection. The first patent for a bar code type product (US Patent #2,612,994) was issued to inventors Joseph Woodland and Bernard Silver on October 7, 1952. The Woodland and Silver bar code can be described as a "bull's eye" symbol, made up of a series of concentric circles. Bar code was first used commercially in 1966, however, it was soon realized that there would have to be some sort of industry standard set. By 1970, the Universal Grocery Products Identification Code or UGPIC was written by a company called Logicon Inc. The first company to produce bar code equipment for retail trade use (using UGPIC) was the American company Monarch Marking in 1970, and for industrial use, the British company Plessey Telecommunications was also first in 1970. UGPIC evolved into the U.P.C. symbol set or Universal Product Code, which is still used in the United States. George J. Laurer is considered the inventor of U.P.C. or Uniform Product Code, which was invented in 1973.

In June of 1974, the first U.P.C. scanner was installed at a Marsh's supermarket in Troy, Ohio. The first product to have a bar code included was a packet of Wrigley's
